Making Inferences

October13

Making inferences is using what you know or see to come up with another idea.
Example:

Let’s go swimming to cool off!
What season is it?
a. Summer
b. Winter
(It does not tell you in the sentence but you can infer that it is summer because you know summer is hot and the season you are more likely to go swimming).

You’re turn…
The moon sure looks bright.
What time is it?
a. Morning
b. Night

Using what you know, what can you INFER about what time it is?

What questions came to your mind while watching this video? What did you think the ‘main idea’ was? Who are the main characters and what characteristics would you use to describe these characters? (Can you think about any evidence) Challenge #1: How long ago do you think setting was for this video? Challenge #2: The title ‘wing it’ is also figurative language (an idiom), do you know what ‘wing it’ it means? And lastly, any guesses about our NEW Inquiry topic for Term 4?

Figurative Language
