We have been learning about different types of poetry in our writing classes. Here is a very special poem written by Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae who was a Canadian poet, physician, author, artist and soldier during World War I. He was born in Guelph, Ontario and died in France in 1918. What do you think about when you read this poem? How does it make you feel? Is this a structured poem or free verse?
Dear Miss Murphy,
In Remembrance Day we remember those women and men’s who fought for our country like ANZAC day which stand for Australia New Zealand Army Corps.
On Remembrance Day we pray and remember those
who fought for New Zealand and Australia.
We also like to remember that on ANZAC those men and women
that worked very hard.
Dear Miss Murphy,
On Rememberance Day we remember and Pray for those men and women who fought in the war. And the word ANZAC means Australian and New Zealand Army Corps.
